WESTON PARK FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT 2009
Held at Weston Park, Shropshire.
Weston Hall
Weston Park is a stately home located
on the A5 at Weston under Lizard in Shropshire. The 17th Century
house is surrounded by a park designed by Capability Brown and
hosts a number of events from the G8 summit in 1998 to Jazz
Proms in the summer.
The Show Field
The Festival of Transport has been
staged at Weston for the last 22 years and this year features
over 1700 vehicles from supercars to vintage motorbikes.
Cycle and Scooter Display
Alongside the vehicle displays there
is an autojumble and a large ring staging a wide variety of
displays.
The event had a disastrous 2008 which
saw this event like many others affected by poor weather and
gates plunging to as low as 3500 people.
Collecting for a good cause.
This year the event was blessed with
better weather and attendance was back up to a respectable
level.

A tidy saloon.
The Austin Seven is usually well
represented at Weston and this year was no different with Sevens
appearing in the pre 1939 vehicle enclosure and one or two of
the Club stands.
A sporty two seater.
Amongst the displays in the ring this
year there was a static aero engine that used to power a Bristol
Beaufighter. The noise and power of this engine when it was
fired up and revved was something to behold and the Safety
Officer stood nearby must have been pondering his risk
assessment - his face was a picture.
Aero engine display.
They don't design them like they
used to.
Adjacent to the autojumble there was
a display of commercial vehicles which included the classic
example pictured above. A great bit of design but somewhat
disturbing as it is younger than we are!
