THE 46th NATIONAL RALLY OF AUSTIN SEVENS
2008
Organized by the 750 Motor
Club and staged on the Events Field at Beaulieu Motor Museum.
This weekend (28th and 29th June 2008) saw another large gathering of Austin Sevens
decorating the landscape and making put-put noises at Beaulieu.
A7 owners enjoying the sunshine
while they can.
The 750 Motor Club's annual Austin Seven Rally
organized by Ian Nelson and his very capable team took place on
the event fields at Beaulieu Motor Museum on Saturday and Sunday
with between 200 and 300 Sevens of all types and ages making an
appearance each day, an improvement on the showing last year
which was so badly effected by heavy rain and flooding across
the country. Despite the unpredictable weather again this June
the day was bright and dry with enough sunshine to make it a
very pleasant day out.

Peking to Paris veterans
Crusty and Rusty.
Crusty
and Rusty, two of the Sevens that
took part in the Peking Paris Rally
made an appearance with their owners
to receive the 750 Motor Club's 2007 Stock Memorial
Trophy to mark their epic
achievement of driving 7700 miles in
the early 30's box saloons.

A fine collection of silverware.

The event followed the
well-established pattern of vehicles lining up in categories for
judging to the rear of the field and a driving test area laid
out with pegs and tapes to test the driving skills and
mechanical capabilities of the participants to the fore.

Autojumblers autojumbling.
As always the gathering was complemented by a large and varied autojumble with a
wide range of parts both old and new available to keep our Sevens on the road.
Autojumble stalls spread around the edges of the display field
offered diverse items from replacement carburettor jets to
complete bodies.

More autojumblers
You never know what you are going to find at these events
and, usually it isn't what you went to find but. I must say,
that on this occasion I managed to lay hands on a couple of
early parts that I have been looking for for some time. Next
year's rally is scheduled to take place at the same venue so polish your radiator badge
and get your car entered early - be there or be an equal sided quadrilateral.
A nicely presented 1936 Austin Seven
Van.
