A7 WIKI
What
is a WIKI?
If you go
HERE
you will find the prime example of what a Wiki is about. Simply
put, it is a web-based encyclopaedia that allows anyone to
contribute. If you have a particular field of expertise
regarding the Austin Seven you can add an entry to the
encyclopaedia and share your knowledge with the world.
How do
I add an article?
You do it through your web browser. No further software is
necessary. You just 'add page' give it a title and start typing.
The details of the author of the article are recorded so that
their authority on the subject can be noted.
Can
articles be edited by others?
Yes. That is the strength of Wikis; they allow others to add
further details to individual entries and correct anything that
they know is wrong or doubtful. Any changes that are made to
articles are recorded and the details of the person who has
edited it are recorded.

So
doesn't chaos reign?
No. the experience of long established Wikis is that common
sense prevails and, in the rare instances that it doesn't the
Wiki's moderators can step in an lock an article.
So who
are these moderators?
Volunteers who have a breadth of knowledge of the subject and a
concern for the aims of the Wiki to be a repository for
trustworthy information. Volunteers for this role are welcome
Who or
what is 'Wetpaint'?
They are the hosts of our Wiki. We will eventually transfer the
Wiki onto our own servers so that we have complete control over
it and can get rid of the adverts but this will take time so, in
the meantime we are using Wetpaint.
